Industrial Ice-Making Facility

Lackawanna County, PA

Challenge

When the water well of an industrial ice making facility became contaminated, operations were forced to shut down. The facility urgently needed a temporary water system to return the plant online.

Solution

WTI engineered a temporary, PA DEP-compliant water system. The system was comprised of an NSF 61-compliant storage tanker and a variable frequency drive pump capable of running the facility’s four ice-making units simultaneously. We also plumbed in a filling station to fill the supply tanker during operations.

Results

WTI provided the ice-making facility with a temporary water system and water on demand for a one-year period, totaling 7 million gallons, without interruption. We met our contractual obligation to produce up to 1.5 million pounds of ice per week and maintained DEP compliance throughout the project.
