Challenge
A water treatment plant that draws and treats water from a local stream was forced to shut down when filters became clogged. The situation was aggravated by a large water main break, causing storage tank levels to drop and creating the potential for system pressure loss. The timing could not have been worse as these events unfolded between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Solution
WTI quickly responded to this emergency, dispatching two tankers with DEP-compliant water within three hours to bring the water plant back online. We also provided all equipment to attach to the emergency-permitted source fire hydrant, as well as a transfer pump, tubing, and fittings to offload water into the client’s facility.
Result
We successfully sourced, transported, and offloaded 100,000 gallons of clean, safe water into the water treatment plant’s supply tanks. This enabled the plant to backwash the filter, return to operational status, and avoid system pressure loss.
